how to claim warranty on products and electronics appliances

What is a warranty on products and electronics appliances?

To claim warranty on products and electronics appliances first of all one need to understand that, what is warranty. If I speak in very simple and basic term a warranty is an assurance for your products or electronics appliances for certain period for any kind of manufacturing defect in your product or electronics appliances. In the period of warranty a manufacturer(some times dealer too in case of warranty by a dealer) make promises to get your product repair without any charge or for some service charge as per the terms of contract of warranty. A warranty may be on whole of the product or electronics appliances or may have some clause in the contract of warranty for specific parts of the electronics appliance or product only. Whatever your warranty contract contain but it must understood very clearly that warranty is only for manufacturing defects only and warranty never meant for defects in your electronics appliances or product caused by you.

What is guarantee? Difference between guarantee and warranty

A guarantee on a product or electronics appliances is meant for replacement of product or appliances in case of any manufacturing defect. A guarantee is a contract for replacement of guaranteed product or electronic appliances in case of any kind of manufacturing defect only.

Now I hope it is very clear to you that what is a warranty and what is a guarantee. But of course there may be many clauses in a contract of warranty or a contract of guarantee. And there may be case of a combination of guarantee and warranty. Its all depend on terms your contract only.

How to claim warranty on your electronics appliances including TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, lcd, led, plasma tvs, microwave ovens?

To claim warranty on any product or appliance one must consider following criteria:

  1. First of all to claim a warranty on your product or electronics appliances, you must have necessary documents along with you. For example if I want to claim warranty on my Lg lcd tv then I must have my bill and duly filled warranty card with me. This will help in avoiding any issue which may be raised by company on your warranty claim by just saying that you don't have completed necessary documents.
  2. On any defect in your electronics appliances first check whether terms of warranty cover that particular defect. Suppose the bulb of my Lg 190 ltrs single door refrigerator is not working but I can not claim warranty for the said bulb as there is a specific exclusion on repair or replacement of bulb in a warrant agreement.
  3. Now make your self assure that who has agreed to provide you warranty a dealer or company. In the most of cases companies provide warranty on their electronic appliances and products. Then ask the service provider to get warranty claim of your electronic appliances. In cases of companies, service centers are appointed to provide warranty. And contact details of service centers are generally provided along with your warranty card.
  4. Some times besides free service during warranty period, service centers ask for service charges for providing service. The clause of service charges by service centers must be there in your agreement of warranty. If there is no such clause then I would suggest you not to pay services charges for warranty unless you can justify that.
